Open House Myths
by Shawn Lackie It’s a good time to dispel a few Real Estate myths. One of the largest and most oft quoted is, Open Houses only account for 2 per cent of all houses sold. Many agents pooh pooh the idea of even holding them, claiming they “Never do anything to sell the property.” Wow, there’s a real open minded ideology. I have lived by a handful of credos over the years, one of which is, to never pre-judge a situation. Expect the unexpected. That most definitely includes host

How do you make an ice cream capture the spirit of a rock band? Turns out, Kawartha Dairy actually knows.
By Lyn Whitham After a chance introduction to The Tragically Hip’s lawyer, Mike Crowe had an intriguing idea. What if the two iconic Canadian institutions struck up a partnership and Mr. Crowe, the Kawartha Dairy’s director of product development and a third-generation member of the Dairy’s founding family, created a new ice cream to celebrate the collaboration. Thanks to those hard-working members who came out on May 4th to t

Zephyr & Sandford News
by Pat Asling Here we are at the end of a dreary month. Wasn’t there an old song that says, “What is so gay as a day in May?” Or similar? Well, we had that one day, and only about one day. Blink, and you missed it. Sadly, the heat of that day signalled to my evening grosbeaks that it was time to head north and off they went. Birder extraordinaire, Geoff Carpentier, had the same experience. There are still plenty of birds, but I miss those big bold ones. Goldfinches are thick
