UXBRIDGE: The Uxbridge Youth Centre (UYC) is proud to announce the return of Open Mic Night, following a debut event, in April. The UYC was filled to capacity and showcased eight performers and acts from across the local youth community. Additional seating was required on the night to accommodate the enthusiastic turnout, a clear signal Uxbridge youth and their families are hungry for this kind of programming.

The second Open Mic Night will take place on Friday, June 5th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Uxbridge Seniors Centre, 75 Marietta Street, in Uxbridge. Building on the momentum of a debut which filled the room, the evening will once again celebrate the talent and courage of Uxbridge youth. With the school year drawing to a close, this one doubles as a Summer Sendoff, making it the perfect way for youth and families to close out the season together, before summer begins.

Open Mic Night is open to all youth ages 11 and up, not just performers. Young people are encouraged to get on stage, support the show behind the scenes as volunteers, or simply show up as part of an enthusiastic crowd, backing some of Uxbridge's most talented and courageous young people. Admission is free.

The event is presented by the Uxbridge Youth Centre with the generous support of Long and McQuade, Springtide Music Festival, and Uxbridge Elementary and Secondary School Music Staff.

Open Mic Night will continue into the autumn, with the next event following the summer break, scheduled for Friday, September 25th. Youth interested in performing or volunteering are encouraged to register in advance.

The Uxbridge Youth Centre is a free after-school drop-in centre for youth, ages 11 and up, offering a safe, supervised space for young people to connect, participate in daily programs, and simply have fun. Located at 75 Marietta Street in Uxbridge, UYC has been a cornerstone of the community since 2008, creating meaningful opportunities for Durham Region youth and families to connect, grow, and thrive.
