EPSOM & UTICA by Faye Ashton

The hot, dry days of summer have arrived, and all the rain predictions have been for naught. Hopefully, this week we’ll see some rain on our land.

We were saddened to hear of the passing of David Evans on June 28th. David’s parents, the late

Wilfred and Gladys Evans, farmed north of Epsom near Bethesda and raised their family, seven children there. David was one of the triplets with sisters Doris and Doreen. We send condolences to his wife Shirley, their family and extended family members. Many knew him as “Uncle Dave” and loved him dearly.

Many neighbours and friends of the Houghlands enjoyed their 40th wedding anniversary BBQ, capability catered by James, Thelma and family, this past Saturday. What delicious food and what a wonderful celebration of 40 years together.

The Ontario County twilight meeting was held on Friday, July 8th, at Ruti Holsteins, the Renggli Family on the 12th line Seagrave. It was a perfect evening for reminiscing with farming friends and neighbours. A delicious roast beef on a bun and salad meal was catered by Mary’s Country Kitchen and Kawartha ice cream to compliment it.

We send our best wishes for a complete recovery from an unfortunate accident to Keith St. John. Know we are all thinking of you and hope you heal quickly.

Birthday wishes are extended to the birthday girl, Dorothy Monroe, on July 15th for her 96th birthday.

Welcome back to church on Sunday, July 24th, at 10 a.m. as we worship together with Rev. Edith Ann. Fellowship to follow.
