ZEPHYR & SANDFORD by Pat Asling

This report is being written almost a week before some of you may read it so who knows what the weather will be like then. Right now most of our snow has gone and the snow showers we had all day melted as quickly as they fell. There is still no reprieve for farmers anxious to get in their corn crop. My friend Gloria Gorman and I spent Monday afternoon at the Roxy, viewing the movie “Midway”, a very exciting war movie about a part of the WW2 not often talked about. Naturally, it was about the US army. Ted Barris could tell us whether our Canadian soldiers, airforce etc. played any part in this series of combats, mostly fought from the sky over sea, following the Pearl harbour assault. Our sympathies to Barb and Tony Peck and family in the passing of Barb’s mother Lee Stephenson. I never met the lady but Barb often spoke of her and her independent spirit, fighting to stay in her own home. Congratulations again to young Mackenzie Moore, who rode off to become the 2019 National Barrel Horse Association high point Thoroughbred winner on Clyde. Clyde was born in 2004, and was a racehorse before becoming a barrel racer. They are an unstoppable pair! Best wishes to Jennifer Neveu-Campsall and husband Scott on their first anniversary. Jennifer, as usual, has planned the Pine grove Christmas service for Tuesday, December 3rd at 7 p.m. Bella Nove will bring special music and Carol Gibson’s music is always very special, never more so than at Christmas. Artspace is a relatively new venue in the township, situated on Sandford Road, at 236, west of the village, an art and craft exhibit will take place. On November 29th there will be an Open House from 3 to 8 p.m. with live music. It will again be open for viewing on November 30th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on December 1st from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Below please find the coming events for the coming weeks and mark your calendars.
