DURHAM: The Regional Municipality of Durham has implemented a maximum weight restriction, of 5,000 kilograms or five tonnes per axle, for LWeight restrictions on Lake Ridge Road to improve traffic safetyake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23), in the City of Pickering, Town of Whitby, and townships of Scugog and Uxbridge. Weight restrictions are enacted under the Highway Traffic Act and Regional By-law 26-2018.
The weight restriction starts immediately and continues until further notice.
The area affected is Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23), from Myrtle Road (Regional Road 5) to approximately two kilometres south of Goodwood Road (Regional Road 21), in the City of Pickering, Town of Whitby, and townships of Scugog and Uxbridge.
The purpose of the restriction is to improve traffic safety and reduce ongoing and increasing maintenance costs.
Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) and the Ministry of Transportation Ontario monitor vehicles to enforce weight restrictions. There will be no exemptions to this weight restriction as this concerns public safety.
