SCUGOG: The ribbon was officially cut on a new chapter for Port Perry's Canadian Tire as community members gathered on Thursday, October 29th, to celebrate the grand re-opening of the store at 14325 Simcoe Street.

Dealer-owner Doug Stewart and his wife, Pauline, welcomed customers, local dignitaries and business leaders as the refreshed store marked the occasion with special in-store promotions, drawing shoppers eager to take advantage of the savings.

Leading the official ribbon-cutting ceremony was Scugog's new Mayor Ian McDougall, joined by members of Township Council, including Scugog Councillors Terry Coyne, Janna Guido, David LeRoy, and Rosario Greco.

The North Durham Chamber of Commerce also took part in the celebration, presenting Doug and Pauline Stewart with a certificate recognizing the store's grand re-opening and its continued contribution to the local business community.

The Port Perry Canadian Tire has become a one-stop destination for residents across Scugog and North Durham, offering automotive services, home improvement products, sporting goods, seasonal merchandise and garden centre products under one roof. The store's Auto Centre continues to provide vehicle maintenance and repair services for local drivers.

Throughout the day, the store buzzed with activity as customers browsed newly refreshed departments, greeted staff and took advantage of grand re-opening specials.

For Mr. Stewart, who has served as the Port Perry Canadian Tire dealer since 2021, the celebration highlighted more than a renovated retail space—it reflected the strong connection between the business and the community it serves.

With municipal leaders, the Chamber of Commerce and hundreds of shoppers joining the festivities, the grand re-opening showcased the small-town spirit which continues to make Port Perry's locally owned Canadian Tire an important part of the community.
