SCUGOG: The sights and sounds of horns, sirens, and heavy equipment will once again fill the Port Perry Fairgrounds, as the popular Port Perry Touch-a-Truck returns, on Friday, July 10th, promising an evening of hands-on family fun, supporting a worthy local cause.

The event will run from 4 to 8 p.m. The 3rd Annual Port Perry Touch-a-Truck, presented by Brass Inc., invites children and adults, alike, to climb aboard more than 40 trucks, emergency vehicles, utility vehicles, and pieces of heavy equipment. Admission and parking are free, and donations will be collected in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Durham.

"We're excited to welcome families back for another incredible evening," said, event organizer, Iain Cooper. "Touch-a-Truck is about much more than showcasing big machines. It's an opportunity for children to explore, ask questions, spark their imagination and maybe even discover what they want to be when they grow up."

Visitors can expect everything from fire trucks and police cruisers to dump trucks, tractors, snowplows, and construction equipment, with vehicle operators and emergency personnel on hand, to answer questions and demonstrate the equipment they use every day.

This year there are expanded food options, as several food trucks will be serving up a variety of meals and treats throughout the evening. Families can also enjoy: a dedicated Kids Zone; interactive activities; and plenty of opportunities to sound horns, sit behind the wheel, and experience the vehicles up close.

The event also serves as an important fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Durham, helping the organization continue its mentoring programs for local children and youth.

"Every donation helps us create more life-changing mentoring relationships," said Jackie Granger, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Durham. "It's wonderful to see our community come together for an event which not only creates lasting family memories but also supports young people, right here in North Durham."

Last year's event attracted hundreds of visitors to the fairgrounds, with long lineups forming at many of the larger vehicles, as children eagerly climbed into driver's seats, tested sirens, and imagined themselves behind the wheel one day.

Organizers are expecting another strong turnout this year and encourage families to arrive early, to make the most of the four-hour event.

Port Perry Fairgrounds are located at 15835 Old Simcoe Road, and admission, parking, and all vehicle displays are free. Donations, in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Durham, will be accepted at the entrance.
