“We are thrilled to have you join us on this team, a wonderful team. I look forward to working with you in the years to come,” TLDSB Director of Education, Wes Hahn said to their newest team member.
Ms. McNelly, in her declaration, promised to “truly, faithfully and impartially,” under the best of her ability, “execute the office of trustee.”
She signed her declaration of intent, at the meeting, and will serve for a two-year term.
The student trustee is a representative and advocate for students during board meetings.
“The role of student trustee is important, as it represents the students, bringing concerns and needs to the attention of the Board,” TLDSB Board Chair, Colleen Wilcox said.
Ms. McNelly also provided a statement on her appointment to the board.
“I am looking forward to being given the opportunity to advocate for student voice, specifically for their learning and school environments. I plan to continue the work of the past trustees, to meet the needs of the student achievement plan, advancing focus on mental health and ensuring equity for all students.”
