KAWARTHA LAKES: A little community generosity can go a long way to keep girls hockey affordable, and residents will have an opportunity to show their support when the Lindsay Lynx Girls Hockey Association holds its annual Tag Day fundraiser, on Saturday, October 24th.
Lynx players and volunteers will be stationed outside local business storefronts, in Lindsay and Fenelon Falls, inviting residents to support girls hockey and help make the sport more accessible for local families.
The annual fundraiser is one of the association’s key community initiatives, with donations helping cover the costs of equipment and jerseys, tournament participation, and officials’ fees.
Funds raised also help reduce the financial burden on families, allowing more young players to enjoy the benefits of participating in organized hockey.
For several years, Tag Day has seen dozens of Lynx players turn out across the City of Kawartha Lakes, greeting shoppers and collecting donations at local businesses. The event was met with strong support, from residents and businesses, highlighting the community’s commitment to encouraging young athletes.
Beyond the money raised, Tag Day gives players an opportunity to connect with the community, meet local residents, and represent an association which helps girls develop their skills, confidence, and teamwork, both on and off the ice.
Every contribution, regardless of size, helps the Lynx prepare for the season ahead and supports opportunities for the next generation of local female hockey players.
Residents are encouraged to watch for Lynx volunteers, at participating business locations in Lindsay and Fenelon Falls, on October 24th, and consider making a donation.
