BROCK: Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Sunderland this November, as the Sunderland Lions Community Youth Theatre celebrates its 11th season with a wondrous production of The Wizard of Oz.

The beloved musical classic will take audiences on a whirlwind adventure, with Dorothy and her little dog Toto, whose lives are turned upside down when a Kansas tornado sweeps them away to the Land of Oz.

Hoping to find her way home, Dorothy sets off for the Emerald City, meeting an unforgettable cast of characters along the way, including: a Scarecrow searching for a brain, a Tin Man longing for a heart, and a Cowardly Lion hoping to find his courage.

Together, the unlikely friends follow the Yellow Brick Road in search of the mysterious Wizard of Oz. However, when the Wizard demands a steep price for helping Dorothy return home, their journey takes a perilous turn.

Filled with humour, adventure, and memorable characters, the production brings L. Frank Baum’s timeless story to life while exploring themes of friendship, courage, strength, and the importance of home.

Audiences can expect solo and choral singing, dramatic dancing, expressive movement, and engaging costumes as the young performers take to the stage, at Sunderland Town Hall.

Now in its 11th season, the Sunderland Lions Community Youth Theatre continues to offer local audiences an opportunity to enjoy live theatre while showcasing the talents and creativity of young performers.
