The Artist Within

by Lauren Walker

Autumn is afoot, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s lovely to see the colours change and feel the crispness in the air. Here’s what I’ve been up to lately.

The Port Perry Artist Association (PPAA)

This past month has seen everyone working hard to put on our opening gala for our “Backstreet Gallery” during Culture Days. I’m excited to say, our gallery is listed on the “Durham Tourism” website, at: https://tourismdirectory.durham.ca/Home/View/the-port-perry-artist-associations-backstreet.

We’re located at 183 Queen Street, in Port Perry. You’ll find our gallery on the lower level of the Panorama store. Please visit us, from Monday-Friday, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

I’m so happy to say the PPAA will have a display up at the Station Gallery in Whitby. Visit the gallery during the month of October, to have a look at our amazing display. A sincere thanks to the Station Gallery for this opportunity.

Our next autumn Show is happening, in November, at the Scout Hall in Port Perry.

For more info, contact the PPAA by email, at portperryartistsassociation@gmail.com or via Instagram, at @portperryartistsassociation

I was part of the Scugog Arts Juried show in the month of August. I have also applied to be in the Pine Ridge Arts Council Juried show in Ajax. Wish me the best.

I am proud to premiere my 2023 Christmas ornament design, “Christmas on Queen Street,” which is available for pre-order. As is my 2022 “Christmas in Port Perry” design also currently available for pre-order. Both designs are available, and those who pre-order will be given priority.

I look forward to sharing more work! I thank you for your support.

Happy painting!
