Less than a month until Christmas and the snow has melted, temperatures are on the plus side and people are putting up their Christmas decorations, but I am beginning to wonder if we have had our winter. We really need that white “stuff” for a background for the lights. Condolences go to the Hurst Family on the recent passing of Gene Hurst. Gene and his siblings grew up at “Honey’s Corners”. Our sympathy to the family, relatives and friends of Ross Fairman who passed away Sunday. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 30th at Greenbank United Church from 1 to 4 p.m. A time of sharing will be at 2 p.m. The greeters at Sunday’s service were Diane and Keith Puckrin. The Christ candle was lit by Jonathon Feyen. Happy Birthday to Wyn Hughes, Joan Lee and Wendy Hudgins who visited the birthday box. The choir sang “All that I Am”, directed by choir director Joan Lee. The Scripture reader was Donna Kent. This Sunday was Mission Sunday. For Youth and Young at Heart time Minister Stephanie read the story “Love Your Neighbour”, to help people help themselves and learn to live together in harmony. Seven members of the Greenbank/Seagrave Guatemala Mission team were present and Brian Jones, Juli Myers, Cathy Nix and Stephanie Richmond shared some of their experiences. Life in Guatemala is so vastly different from our culture and the team did what they wanted to do, to give support and hope to the people and pave the way for future teams. ‘Tis that time of year and we are busy preparing to help others. We have adopted a family through Operation Scugog and also a local family. A list of needed items is in the Great Room. For more information, contact Wendy Hudgins at 905-260-0427 or Tara at 905-985-9479. There is a Worry Doll fund raiser at a cost of $10, each with 100 percent of the funds being donated to victims of sexual assault, domestic assault, abuse, gender-based violence and domestic human trafficking. For more information, contact Dale at 289-355-8979.
