Staying home, we have graduated to a new world together. We have found new ways of sharing and understanding each other, increasing the connection to a wider world. We’ve realized we can do more with less, and there’s no going back. Welcome to the summer of simple pleasures. Thankfully, we have received some desperately needed rain. Canadian Tire and Food Basics in Lindsay had lakes instead of parking lots, with water up to the bumpers of cars. Either a feast or a famine. On July 7th, David and Shirley Hooker renewed their wedding vows in the backyard of Barb and Brad Sinclair, in the presence of a few friends and God, committing themselves to each other in love for the rest of their lives. Service officiated by Minister Stephanie Richmond. This was in celebration of their 20th wedding anniversary. Congratulations David and Shirley. Happy Anniversary wishes to: Kim and Jim (Dick) Thomson (40th) on July 5th, Barb and Jim Ward (47th) on July 7th, Wilma and Ted Smith (41st) on July 14th. Happy special birthday wishes to Ron Parish (70) on the week of July 5th. Congrats to 2020 Grad, Korbin Karpis from Greenbank Public School. Congrats to all others who have graduated. Sincere sympathy is extended to family and friends on the unexpected passing of Danny Reesor of Greenbank on July 7th, at the age of 79. Husband of deceased Lillian (Coaves). Father of Denise (Dave) Bell, Chris (Danielle), Charlene (Trevor) and Lyn. Danny and Lillian spent several retirement years at their Coves Lane home. Danny, who was a musician and teacher, was devoted to his family, church life, and community activities. The Gangster Cheese food truck that was in Seagrave on Friday evening was completely sold out, which was a very successful evening for them. July 12th was the 6th Sunday after Pentecost. The message from Matthew 13 was to “Listen to the Sower of Seeds”. There is a significant difference between listening and hearing. To listen with your ears and an open heart brings understanding. During this week spread the seeds of hope, love and grace to others. Coincidentally, July 18th, is World Listening Day. This day is to raise awareness and focus on understanding the World and its natural environment, cultures and societies through listening. Greenbank Lions Club are collecting the tabs from cans. Contact Don at 905-985-8383 for arrangements. Coffee Hour photos are being enjoyed after the virtual Sunday services at seagrave-church.com. Please continue sending in your activities to Minister Stephanie at the following address: gspastoralcharge@gmail.com or by phone or text at 905-718-8086. Also, if you wish a personal prayer, grocery, medication pickup or just to chat, contact Minister Stephanie. The outdoor food banks remain open each day at Seagrave and Greenbank Churches. Thanks to those who continue to donate non-perishable food items. If you have news for this column, contact Jean at the following address: grammiejean2010@hotmail.com or phone 905-985-9921.
