Seagrave by Barb Martyn

Great to see the sunshine and little green sprouts popping up in the flower beds. Congratulations to Eleanor and Ken Sturman, great grandparents, Ted and Wendy Sturman, grandparents, and new parents Megan Spanger and Cody Morris on the birth of their tiny twin sons, born in Sudbury on March 4th. Happy Birthday wishes to Ethan Cannon (16th), Carol Coleman (17th) and Brett Drew (21st). Happy Anniversary to John and Kim DeBono on the 20th. The Seagrave United Church wishes to begin a project to make the building accessible. In order to proceed, we require the approval of the congregation. A vote will take place on Sunday, March 22nd immediately following the worship service. If approved, we will be seeking volunteers for the committee. Please note, this is the 3rd of three notices regarding this meeting. World Day of Prayer on March 6th at Cresswell Presbyterian Church was informative and meaningful, followed by a light luncheon. The 11th prayer shawl was blessed and prayed upon for a family who are coping with difficulties at this time. The greeters at Seagrave United church this Sunday, were Diane and Keith Puckrin. The Christ candle was lit by Katie O’Hara, she also read the Lenten reading and extinguished the 2nd candle of Lent. As this is the season of change, Minister Stephanie had the congregation move to different seats for the service. Sunday was International Women’s Day, and in celebration of those warriors who came before us, a candle was lit. Minute for Mission report entitled “A Tiny Baby” was read by Tara-Bailey Taylor. Minister Stephanie’s Youth and Young at Heart time began with the sentence, “God so Loved the World”. She showed a large box of pencils and they were all so different, different colours, some broken, sharp, worn down and chewed upon. We have favourites, and each of us is different, but God loves us all. Minister Stephanie distributed 2 different coloured papers to each person. The people in the congregation were asked to write the names of people, past or present, who were important to them, and names of people who needed special prayers. The papers were gathered and prayed upon. During the month of March, the church will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Scugog Food Bank. There is a box at the back of the sanctuary. Prayer shawl knitting is every Wednesday, at the Seagrave United Church, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Great Room. All are welcome to join in. March 12th – 7 p.m. Let’s Talk About!
