SEAGRAVE by Barb Martyn

September is the month of change. It is a turning point. We have the opportunity to become stronger, more creative, and to gain more confidence in our path forward. September is a new cycle in our lives. God gave us eyes to see the beauty in nature, and hearts to see the beauty in each other. Sincere condolences to Verna Gagnon and family on the passing of Verna’s sister, Victoria Adamson. Victoria passed away, Wednesday, September 9th, in the Cobourg Hospital. Happy Birthday wishes to Lloyd Short on September 19th. Happy belated birthday to Hans Buscher, who celebrated on September 2nd. Nora Groves and Ivan Stone visited Jean and Ross Short on Thursday, social distancing and with masks. The outdoor food banks at Seagrave and Greenbank Churches will remain open every day until Thanksgiving week-end. Take what you need, give what you can. There are masks available in various sizes, made and donated by Isabelle Vernon. If you have material to spare for Isabelle to make more masks, please contact Jean at 905-985-9921 or grammiejean2010@hotmail.com. If you have borrowed, or know where the portable microphone system is, at the Seagrave Church, please contact Rick at 905-985-8383. The Seagrave Parks board needs help! They need two new board members to prepare for next season. They have support and financial help committed from the township, for three new projects for 2020. So, they are looking for local handymen or women, contractors, etc., who want to volunteer their skills for the odd project. If you are willing to help, or for more information, please e-mail Dianne at seagrave.park.on@gmil.com. Blackstock minor hockey league has been cancelled for the coming season. Greenbank United Church fall talent auction has been postponed until 2021. September 13th was the “1st Sunday of Creation” during the season of Pentecost. The scripture reading was Psalm 148, entitled “Praise the Lord”. In the beginning God created heaven and earth. It is up to us to take the time to reconnect with God’s Creation and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. Nature can teach us so much, bringing peace and a connection to creativity to each of us.
