Scugog to once again honour athletic excellence this November

SCUGOG: The 2019 induction class for the Scugog Sports Hall of Fame has been released. This year’s inductees include hockey athlete Casey van Schagen, former President of Port Perry District Minor Softball Carolyn Best in the builder category, and the 1994/1995 Port Perry IGA Junior A Ringette and Warriner Curling Team as team inductees. The local Sports Hall of Fame will be celebrating their 13th anniversary this year. The induction ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 7th. It will be held at the Scugog Community Recreation Centre. Doors will open for the event at 6 p.m., with the ceremony expected to begin at 7 p.m. “Scugog has a rich sporting heritage, and the selection of this year’s inductees once again demonstrates the extent of the sporting influence Scugog’s athletes have in their community and abroad,” read a report from Scugog’s Recreation and Culture Associate Shawna Cornish.
