Little Britain’s Mason Quinn signs with Peterborough Petes

KAWARTHA LAKES: A local hockey player is one step closer to realizing his dream of playing major junior hockey, after the Peterborough Petes signed Little Britain’s Mason Quinn.

The Petes announced, on Friday, August 7th, the club had signed Quinn to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

For the 16-year-old forward, the signing carries extra significance because it comes with his hometown team.

“It’s an honour to sign with such a great organization,” Mr. Quinn said. “Being a hometown kid, it really means the world, to me and my family, to be able to join the Petes. I’m very eager to get going and make a positive impact on the team.”

Quinn was selected by Peterborough, in the third round, 59th overall, in the 2026 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

The 2010-born forward spent last season with the Toronto Marlboros U16 team, recording 15 goals and 10 assists, for 25 points in 28 games.

He also helped the Marlboros earn a berth in the 2026 OHL Cup, one of the top showcases for under-16 hockey talent in the province. Quinn contributed a goal in four games during the tournament.

Before making the move to the Marlboros, for his U16 season, Quinn developed his game closer to home, with the Central Ontario Wolves organization.

That local background has given the Petes plenty of opportunity to follow his progress.

“We’re excited to welcome Mason to the Petes,” said, Petes General Manager and Vice President of Operations, Michael Oke. “Being from the area, Mason is a player we’ve been following for several years, through his time with the Marlies and the Central Ontario Wolves.”

Mr. Oke said, Quinn's work ethic and all-around game were among the qualities which attracted the organization.

“He’s a hardworking, two-way forward, who competes every shift and does the little things to help his team succeed,” Mr. Oke added.
