NORTH DURHAM: A long-awaited reconstruction project, on Lake Ridge Road, is now underway. Drivers in Brock and Uxbridge are being warned to expect lane restrictions and delays through next summer.

The Regional Municipality of Durham has hired Dufferin Construction to reconstruct and rehabilitate Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23), from 200 metres north of Ravenshoe Road to 75 metres south of Concession Road 7.

Crews began preparing for the project during the week of October 5th, and construction is expected to continue through July 31st, 2027, weather permitting.

For Brock residents, the project represents a significant investment in a stretch of regional road which has been in need of rehabilitation.

“As part of Budget 2026, the much-needed road reconstruction will be commencing this coming Monday, on Regional Road 23, from Ravenshoe Road to Vallentyne,” said Brock Mayor Mike Jubb. “I am pleased to see this long-awaited project coming forward for the benefit of Brock residents and visitors alike.”

The work will include pulverizing the existing asphalt roadway, followed by the placement of new granular material and asphalt. Crews will also replace culverts, improve drainage ditches and install new street lighting along the project corridor.

The first phase of the work is focused on ditching and culvert replacements, which are scheduled to take place this autumn.

Road-building work, including pulverization and the placement of new asphalt, is expected to take place in spring 2027.

Construction will then shut down for the winter period, from December 1st through May 1st, with work resuming in the spring.

Drivers should expect daily lane restrictions throughout the project, as crews work along the road. The Region is advising motorists to allow extra time, when travelling through the construction area, and to use caution around construction equipment and workers.

The project is also expected to bring some of the usual disruptions associated with major road construction. Nearby residents and businesses may notice increased noise and ground vibrations, from construction equipment, while crews are working.

Every effort will be made to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.

The project corridor will remain an active construction zone for much of the coming year, and motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists are being urged to exercise caution when travelling through the area.

Once completed, the project will provide a reconstructed and rehabilitated section of Regional Road 23, along with upgraded drainage infrastructure and new street lighting.

For Brock residents and other regular users of Lake Ridge Road, the project is expected to mean some short-term inconvenience in exchange for a long-awaited upgrade to a key north-south route through the area.
