SCUGOG: The Port Perry Lakefront Farmers Market is opening their 2024 season next month, on Saturday, May 11th.
The local market sets up on Queen Street, between the Old Mill and Palmer Park and near the Port Perry Marina. The market will run every Saturday, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
At a recent meeting, Samantha Burkus, from the Farmers Market, provided some highlights from the market’s 2023 season, to Scugog council members.
“We welcomed over 21,000 visitors to the farmer’s market last season, which is pretty substantial growth. Our weekly average was 1,100. That’s up 300 guests, over the previous year, and that’s including having eight more rain days last season than any previous year,” she said.
She also noted, the farmers market saw a “record number of submissions for vendors,” at “almost double the previous season.”
“It was just a really, really good market last year. There was tremendous growth, really great feedback from the town and from the visitors. So we’re hoping to keep that momentum going for the 2024 season,” she concluded.
