PONTYPOOL by Barb Martyn
I hope everyone is getting into the Christmas spirit.
Pontypool Volunteer Fire Department was not able to run their Christmas tree fundraiser this year, but Freskiw’s, just south of Pontypool on highway 115, stepped up to help. They are donating a portion of their tree sales from the weekend to the Pontypool Fire Department. Thank you Freskiw’s.
Don’t forget the Santa food and toy run is on December 13th. It will be different from other years. Children will not be able to sit on Santa’s knee but can come out and shout out “Hi”, to the big guy in red. Leave your food and toys in a bag at the end of your drive and Santa’s helpers will pick them up. Thank you to all the volunteer firefighters for continuing this great Christmas tradition. This is part of my family’s Christmas tradition and we are so happy to hear that it’s still going to run, even if it’s going to be different this year. Thank you.
It’s not too late for kids to write Santa. The Pontypool fire department on John Street has a special Santa mail box at the fire hall. So have the kids write to Santa and drop off at the hall. Don’t forget return address.
Remember, there are lots of little businesses in the area. Shop local this year.
Stay safe and healthy.
