Ontario government announces OCIF funding for Scugog

SCUGOG: The Ontario government is supporting the Township of Scugog with infrastructure funding.

On Friday, December 15th, it was announced, the provincial government will be providing Scugog with $819,293, from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF).

“Empowering economic prosperity and fostering job opportunities throughout the province, our government, via the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF), is dedicated to supporting local communities experiencing unprecedented growth, such as Clarington and Scugog,” Durham riding MPP, Todd McCarthy said, in a statement. “"With a substantial investment of $3,353,372 for Clarington and $819,293 for Scugog, these municipalities will receive crucial funding for the implementation of essential infrastructure projects, addressing the pressing needs of our communities.”

A press release explained, the OCIF fund “provides funding for local infrastructure projects in communities with populations under 100,000, as well as all rural and northern communities.”

Municipalities can use OCIF funding for projects, such as: roads, bridges, and water and wastewater projects.
