New support hub in Cannington for residents in need

BROCK: Regional Municipality of Durham has teamed up with community partners to open a support hub for local tenants, homeless residents and those at risk of homelessness in north Durham. The hub will be open on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome at Allan’s Place, Durham Non-Profit Housing Corporation, located at 100 McKay Street, Cannington, in the Township of Brock. The purpose of the hub is to increase access to community supports in North Durham. Services include: income and employment support, counselling, service navigation, housing outreach and more. Durham Region Social Services and VHA Home Healthcare will be on site at Durham Non-Profit Housing Corporation to provide support to residents in need, which, itself is supported by the North Durham Working Group under the Health, Homelessness and Housing (H3) Committee. This is the third support hub opened, to support vulnerable residents during COVID-19, the other two hubs are located in Ajax and Oshawa.
