New Municipal Well Drilling Planned in Port Perry

SCUGOG: The Regional Municipality of Durham has announced plans to drill a new municipal water supply well near 12235 Simcoe Street in the Township of Scugog to help strengthen the water supply for the community of Port Perry.
Construction activities related to the project are scheduled to take place from February 17th through September 30th. Initial drilling work is expected to begin during the week of February 16th, with full construction of the well starting in late March and continuing into May. Testing of the new well is anticipated to be completed in September.
Residents and businesses in the immediate area of the Simcoe Street site may notice increased construction traffic and elevated noise levels while work is underway. The Region has advised that municipal and private drinking water quality and supply are not expected to be affected during the construction and testing phases.
All work will be carried out in accordance with the Township of Scugog Noise By-Law No. 50-22. The Regional Municipality of Durham acknowledged the potential inconvenience caused by the project and expressed appreciation to residents and businesses for their patience and understanding as the work progresses.
