Medical episode the believed cause of a vehicle crash in Port Perry

SCUGOG: A 79-year-old man has died, following a single vehicle crash in Port Perry, on Wednesday, January 31st.

According to Durham Regional Police (DRPS), the man died, “due to a medical episode,” following a crash in an area, between Curt Street and Water Street, at 7:25 p.m.

“A vehicle being operated by a 79-year-old male was travelling westbound when the driver suffered a medical episode, causing him to leave the roadway and strike a street light and bus shelter. The driver was located without vital signs and transported to a local area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased,” a DRPS press release stated.

Police closed the roadway for “for several hours while evidence was collected,” the press release added.
