The Port Perry Lumberjacks’ winning streak ended this past weekend with two losses in low-scoring games.

The Lumberjacks visited their rival, the Uxbridge Bruins, in Uxbridge on Friday, December 8th. Coming into the game, the Lumberjacks were riding a four-game winning streak.

Nearly four minutes into the first period, Kyle Jessome scored the game’s first goal, giving Port Perry a 1-0 lead. But, with less than 20 seconds remaining in the period, the Bruins put the puck past goaltender Gavin Bradt. This tied the game up 1-1.

The game would remain that score until late in the second period. Over 16 minutes in, the Bruins scored to get their first lead of the game.

The Bruins added a goal eight minutes into the third period, and Port Perry lost the game 3-1.

On Sunday, December 10th, the Lumberjacks hosted the Little Britain Merchants at Scugog Arena for their ‘Pink in the Rink’ game. The game raised funds for cancer research with raffles as well as a silent auction. The team wore custom pink and green jerseys.

Eleven minutes into the period, a Merchants shot was tipped past goaltender Vann Kulba, giving Little Britain a 1-0 lead.Despite outshooting the Merchants 19 to 5 in the second period, the Lumberjacks were unable to find the tying goal in the second period.

However, seven and a half minutes into the third period, Johannes Kalm found himself on a breakaway and deked the puck past a Merchants defender before putting the puck in the back of the net. The game was tied 1-1. But, with exactly six minutes remaining on the clock, the Merchants would score the game-winning goal. The Lumberjacks lost the game 2-1.
