The Port Perry Lumberjacks scored another victory over their rival, the Uxbridge Bruins, during a game on Sunday, October 22nd.

Following an 8-2 loss to the Little Britain Merchants the day before, the Lumberjacks hosted the Bruins at Scugog Arena for the third edition of this season’s ‘Battle of North Durham.’

Over four minutes into the first period, the Bruins would score the first goal of the game. But, three and a half minutes later, the Lumberjacks returned fire with Nolan Goddard’s first goal of the season. Exactly five minutes later, the Bruins would score a shorthanded goal, putting Port Perry behind 2-1. In the final minute and a half of the period, the Bruins struck again, extending the deficit to 3-1.

However, the Lumberjacks played a strong second period. A little over a minute into the period, Parker Lemay scored. Three minutes later, Cameron Marshall jammed the puck in the net, tying the game 3-3. With a little over six and a half minutes remaining in the frame, the Bruins capitalized on a power play to make it a 4-3 game. But that deficit quickly evaporated with goals late in the period from Braedyn Vannetten and Johannes Kalm. The Lumberjacks led the game 5-4 after 40 minutes of play.

About 11 and a half minutes into the third period, Cole Papageorgiou extended the lead to 6-4 with a goal. Vannetten would add an empty net goal, his second goal of the game, and the Lumberjacks won 7-4. Goaltender Gavin Bradt stopped 33 of the 37 shots he faced.
