The Port Perry Lumberjacks scored their third consecutive victory in the latest edition of the ‘Battle of North Durham’ on Sunday, November 24th.
The Lumberjacks hosted the Uxbridge Bruins in that game at Scugog Arena and came from back-to-back victories.
There were no goals scored until late in the first period. With the Lumberjacks on a five-minute power play, a Kyle Robillard shot rippled the twine with just a bit over a minute remaining on the clock. The Lumberjacks took a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
However, a little under six minutes into the second period, the Bruins scored to tie the game 1-1. This came shortly after the Lumberjacks had a goal waved off by officials when the Uxbridge goaltender got bumped. But, the Lumberjacks would restore their lead late in the period. With just 13 seconds left in the period, Mac Connelly took a shot from just above the blue line and scored.
The game started to open up more in the third period. Exactly 11 minutes in, Aiden Farr scored his first goal as a Lumberjack, extending the lead to 3-1. Then, with over two minutes remaining in the period, Cameron Marshall scored an empty net goal, extending the score to 4-1. Just 20 seconds later, the Bruins struck twine to make it 4-2. But Marshall would add one more empty-net goal less than a minute later, and the Lumberjacks won the game 5-2.
