SCUGOG: A new business is looking to help make Port Perry a more healthy community.
Lakeview Health and Wellness opened their doors, at 158 Casimir Street, on April 15th.
“I decided to pursue my long term goal of opening the clinic because I am a resident of Port Perry and understand the need for a Health and Wellness clinic [which] offers multiple wellness services all at one location,” owner Charlene Gough explained.
The services the new business offers include: Registered Massage Therapy, Chiropractic Care, Manual Osteopathy, Acupuncture, Cupping, Gua Sha as well as Medical and Cosmetic Injections.
“The most rewarding thing about being in this line of work is, you gain great satisfaction out of providing services to people [which] make them feel better and/or decrease their pain,” Ms. Gough said.
However, she’s found opening a business during a pandemic is not an easy job.
“Opening a clinic has been a challenge during the pandemic, as products and supplies have been limited and not as readily available, and curbside pick up has made shopping a little more time consuming,” Ms. Gough stated.
The clinic has put in place a number of safety protocols, to keep their clients safe from COVID-19, including: having each patient perform a pre-screening prior to entering, limiting the number of people in the clinic at one time, instituting a full cleaning and sanitizing protocol, requiring both the patient and clinician to wear medical grade masks during the treatment, having staff practice hand sanitizing, and limiting the clinic to appointment only.
Ms. Gough wants Lakeview Health and Wellness to provide “a relaxing and nurturing environment,” and feels both the “variety of different health and wellness services” they offer at the clinic, and “the level of experience” their team possesses sets them apart from other health and wellness clinics.
