KAWARTHA LAKES: The City of Kawartha Lakes has approved a tax levy increase of 4.5 percent for 2022.
At a meeting, on Tuesday, December 7th, councillors deliberated the 2022 water and wastewater, operating, and special projects municipal budgets. The increase includes 3 percent operating expenses and a 1.5 percent capital roads levy.
Ward 3 Councillor Doug Elmslie felt Council fulfilled their overall goal with this budget.
“I think we’ve done what we set out to do. We said we were going to do a 3 percent [increase] and a 1.5 percent levy, and that’s where we are now,” he said. “I think it’s a good budget, and we’ll get a lot done in 2022.”
