Families are invited to learn how to identify and count birds with experts. Hiking the trails, contributing to Citizen Science and feeding chickadees are highlights of the morning. Friday, December 27th Uxbridge Christmas Bird Count: The Christmas bird count is an annual tradition started by National Audubon over 100 years ago. North Durham Nature continues the custom with counts in the Uxbridge/Port Perry area. Participation is fun and easy! Register with Derek Connelly, 905-852-5432, ndnature7@gmail.com, then take part by either doing a Feeder count – stay warm at home and count your feeder birds; or join a group and do a Field count which entails driving and walking to find birds in designated areas, as determined by Bird Studies Canada.
