DAN CEARNS, The Standard

SCUGOG: The Township of Scugog will once again be celebrating Canada Day, in Port Perry's Palmer Park, on Saturday, July 1st.

The celebrations will open with the 'Vettes for Vets' parade, at 10:30 a.m., heading from Ottawa Street to Queen Street and then down Water Street. Other than corvettes, the parade is expected to also see military vehicles, Spyder roadsters, pipe, fife and drum bands and community organizations.

Throughout the day, there will be entertainment in the park, provided by Dan the Music Man, the Vocally Inspired Performers, Theatre on the Ridge, WonderPhil, Camperdown, the Ferrport Jazz Ensemble, Sarah Fazackerley, The Wanted and The Offbeats.

There will also be a kids zone, inflatables, the Dog Lovers Days Lure Course, food and drink vendors and a children's mural. For the older crowd, the Township is bringing back the fenced-in beverage tent.

The annual celebrations will wrap up at 10 p.m. with a 15-minute fireworks show, put on by Supernova Fireworks. The show will feature 3,326 shots with 27 shells a minute.
