CAESAREA by Eleanor Colwell

Blackstock Cartwright Lions Club Since we cannot meet in person, our members are communicating with each other, mostly by phone, to make sure everyone is healthy and managing during these very different times. We’re always thinking about our community members and how we can support them. Many of our global projects will do just that. Besides vision and childhood cancer, Lions also focus on diabetes. In the fall, on November 14th, World Diabetes Day, with the support and encouragement from Wellness Shield Pharmacy, we set up a testing site for elevated blood sugar, fostering an awareness of this condition. The Lions, in Port Perry, set up an information table at Walmart to discuss diabetes with the community. For the last five years, Brooklin Ashburn Myrtle (BAM) Lions have hosted an annual golf tournament with the proceeds going to the Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre. During this time of COVID-19, it will be a challenge to plan a new way of supporting this focus. Keep well, everyone, and stay home.
