Bruins sweep the weekend in PJHL action with wins over LumberJacks and Ice

The Uxbridge Bruins enjoyed a dominant weekend, in the Provincial Junior Hockey League, picking up two big wins over North Durham rivals.
For the second straight Sunday, the Bruins travelled to Scugog Arena and skated to victory, against the Port Perry LumberJacks, in the Battle of North Durham. Returning from a three-game suspension, goalie Robby DiMaria stopped 29 shots, to secure the win.
Uxbridge struck early, when Danny Thomakos scored, just 2:29 into the first period, assisted by Devin Hollands and Evan Gilbert. The Bruins extended their lead in the second, with goals from Luke Kemp and Darin Bain. Port Perry replied late in the period, with a power-play goal from Kyle Den Ouden. The third period saw Trent Nobes add a short-handed goal, for Uxbridge. The LumberJacks scored twice more, including a late power-play goal by Austin Fata, but the Bruins held on for the victory.
Earlier, on Friday night, at the Bear Den, Uxbridge avenged a recent loss to Georgina, with a 6-1 rout. Luke Kemp opened the scoring, followed by goals from Danny Thomakos, Jack Kemp, Kyle Butt, and two from Jordan Fitger, both on the power play. Kevin Halloran stopped 32 shots, for the win, while, North Durham Warriors Under-18 AA goalie, Jaxson McQuade dressed as the back-up, but did not see game action.
Meanwhile, the Little Britain Merchants stumbled in their lone game of the weekend, falling 4-2 to Georgina, on Saturday night in Little Britain. Kyle Allen and Beckham Renzik scored for the Merchants, who were unable to carry forward momentum, from, wins over Caledon and Schomberg, the previous weekend.
Looking ahead, the Bruins host Little Britain at the Bear Den, on Friday night, before traveling to Schomberg, on Saturday. The Merchants will host Port Perry, at 7:30 p.m., on Saturday, December 20th. The LumberJacks round out the weekend with a Sunday matinee, against the Schomberg Cougars, at 2:25 p.m.
