Bruins host Eagles in pivotal PJHL match-up this Friday night

DARRYL KNIGHT The Standard

The Uxbridge Bruins will have a tough task ahead of them as they look to stop their current slide that has seen the club drop its past four games and stumble to third place in the Orr Division standings.

This Friday, November 17th, the Bruins will host the division-leading Clarington Eagles at the Bear Den for a 7:45 p.m. match-up. The Eagles have once again shown themselves to be the class of the league having won 14 of their 15 games to date, giving them a firm grip on the top spot in the standings with 28 points. The lone defeat the Eagles have suffered came at the hands of the Bruins back on October 12th in Bowmanville.

However, things have been trending downward recently for the Bruins, with their latest setback being a 4-2 defeat against North Kawartha on Friday, November 10th, at the Bear Den.

The Knights opened the scoring just 25 seconds into the action, but the Bruins battled back in the second period behind a pair of goals by Ty Roberts to take a 2-1 advantage into the third period. However, the lead would not last, as the Knights charged back with three goals in the third period, including an empty netter to seal the 4-2 win with just nine seconds remaining in regulation time.

Loose Pucks:

- In keeping with the long-standing team tradition, the Bruins once again hosted members of the Uxbridge Legion as well as the Uxbridge Pipes and Drums band for a special Remembrance Day ceremony prior to the game on Friday night.

- This weekend, the Bruins will travel to Apsley on Saturday night for a 7:25 p.m. tilt against the Knights.
