There was a small electrical fire at the Blackstock arena last week, which forced the shutdown of all programs from Tuesday to Friday. I am happy to announce it is open once again for all user groups.

The Blackstock Co-op Nursery School's annual "Breakfast with Santa" is on Sunday, December 7th, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Blackstock Recreation Centre. The event features a pancake breakfast, photos with Santa, a silent auction, and a bake sale to raise funds for the nursery school. This is a cash-only event and is open to everyone.

Blackstock-Nestleton United Church Choir is offering their annual Cantata on Sunday, December 14th. The service starts at 9:45 a.m. and will be followed by Souper Sundae, a lunch of soup, buns, ice cream, and cookies. Everyone is welcome to attend. The lunch is free, but donations are always welcome.

The next Coffee Drop-In is on Monday, December 8th, from 9:30-11 a.m., at Blackstock-Nestleton United Church. Please join us!

Many people from the area attended the Royal Winter Fair, and some had the honour of showing livestock. Special shout-out to Altona Lea Farms for breeding the Grand Champion Dairy Cow. There were over 450 dairy cattle at the Royal, so this is a huge honour for the Barkey Family.

My son, Michael, and I are attending the Olympic Curling Trials in Halifax this week. This competition will select the top women's and men's teams to represent Canada at the Winter Olympics in Italy in February 2026.
