Blackstock news

by Janet Van Camp

The Our Night Out (ONO) Club met at the home of Carol Mairs for their regular monthly meeting. All enjoyed hearing the history of the ONO Club as written and presented by Donna Kyte. This organization had its start in the community 75 years ago by some very forward-thinking women. The guest speaker at this month's meeting was Janet Van Camp, who spoke on her recent trip to South Africa. A delicious dessert was served by the hostess and all enjoyed a time of fellowship.

The drop-in coffee time at Blackstock-Nestleton United Church is certainly well-attended twice a month. The next date is Wednesday, May 14th from 10-11:30 a.m.

Jim Byers, Ted Kemp, and Don Swain were the guests of honour at the Nestleton Hall recently as they celebrated special birthdays. Lots of friends and family were in attendance.

Sympathy is extended to Larry Werry and his daughter, Madison, on the recent passing of Jo-Anne (Leduc) Werry.

Keep this date in mind! Blackstock-Nestleton United Church is holding their annual perennial plant and yard sale on Saturday, May 10th, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the parking lot of the Church, at 3483 Church Street, in Blackstock. To donate plants or reserve a spot for the yard sale, please contact Kelly at 905-986-4917 or Janet at 905-986-0693 or Sandy (js4churchill@gmail.com). There will also be bbq’d hotdogs and pop available for just $5.

Please remember to support our local businesses along the main street of Blackstock: Wellness Shield Pharmacy, Penny’s Mini -Mart, Looking Good Hair Studio, The Amazing Wing Guys, and Blackstock Pizza Town. Their services are valued in our village and surrounding area.
