George and Pat Obstfeld celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends at the Blackstock-Nestleton United Church on Sunday afternoon. Congratulations, George and Pat, on this special milestone.
The executive of the Blackstock Curling Club recently met to begin plans for their upcoming season. If you are interested in learning to curl or have curled before and would like to get back into the sport, please contact Doug or Karen Kadowaki (k.dkadowaki @gmail.com) as soon as possible. This is a mixed curling league which happens on Tuesday nights, in our local arena, beginning November 5th.
Coffee Drop-In resumes on Wednesday, October 23rd from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Blackstock-Nestleton United Church. All are welcome to attend and enjoy conversation, coffee & treats.
This a reminder of the Blackstock-Nestleton United Church’s fundraising talent auction coming up on Friday, November 15th, at 7 p.m., at the church. Carl Phoenix is the auctioneer, and the evening is always entertaining. Lots of items will be offered for sale to the highest bidder! A great selection of homemade articles (preserves, stained glass, metal sculptures, butter tarts), tickets to theatre performances, and Christmas décor have all been on offer other years. Come out and see what we have for you this year!
Cartwright Sports and Rec hosted an amazing car show and festival on Saturday. Beautiful fall weather contributed to the successful day.
Many local residents attended the International Plowing Match (IPM) in Lindsay this past week. Next year the IPM is being held in the Niagara Region.
If you have news or announcements which you would like to see included in this column, please send them to Janet Van Camp (jrvc78@hotmail.com).
