BLACKSTOCK by Tammy Phillips

Due to COVID-19 and the current restrictions, the Blackstock Co-op Nursery School (BCNS) is once again unable to host its Annual Breakfast with Santa & Friends.

The annual event is the non-profit nursery school’s largest fundraising event. Typically BCNS hosts over 450 people from Blackstock and surrounding communities, with the pancake breakfast, silent auction, bake sale and photos with Santa. This provides the non-profit nursery school with a large portion of its yearly operating funds.

This year, the non-profit nursery school will host the 2nd Annual ‘Tis the Season Online Silent Auction on their website at: https://www.blackstocknurseryschool.ca/auction/tis-the-season-online-auction/

Auction items available for bidding on including an overnight stay and breakfast for two at Nestleton Waters Inn, Brimacombe lift tickets for two, green fees and cart for four at Summerlea Golf Club, a Family Pass for Holiday in the Hills, Farm Boy Holiday Turkey Dinner, 30-Minute Photo Session with Rachel Callan Photography; and several other items.

The auction is held exclusively online. Bidding will open on Friday, November 26th at 6 p.m. and close on Monday, December 6th at 6 p.m. Winners will be contacted within 24 hours of closing.

Blackstock Euchre Club is now welcoming new players. The club meets every Tuesday evening at the Blackstock United Church hall. Play begins at 7:30 p.m. Proof of two Covid vaccines is required as well as masking. Beginners welcome.

The Blackstock Cartwright Lions Club would like to send a thank you out to the community for their support of the ongoing bottle and scrap metal fundraising drive. To arrange pick, please contact Lion Connie at 905-926-4913.

You can also donate empty return money by bringing it to Penny’s Market.

Please email news and items for consideration to link2tammy@gmail.com by 12 noon on the Monday prior to publication date.
