Watermain flushing begins across Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES: Residents across Kawartha Lakes can expect routine watermain flushing to begin Tuesday, September 15th, as the municipality carries out its annual autumn maintenance program.

The flushing program will run through October 14th and will affect drinking water systems throughout the municipality. Woodville will see flushing between September 21st and October 9th, while other communities will be serviced on specific dates.

Flushing is scheduled for Pinewood on September 15th; Manorview, Norland, Southview Estates, Western Trent/Palmina and Woodfield on September 17th; King’s Bay and Mariposa Estates on September 22nd; Birch Point and Kinmount on September 23rd; and Pleasant Point on September 24th.

The remaining schedule includes Canadiana Shores on October 6th, Victoria Place on October 7th, Omemee on October 8th and Janetville on October 14th. Dates for the Manilla and Sonya drinking water systems will be announced later.

The work uses pressurized water to clean watermain pipes and remove sediment, which can accumulate over time.

Residents may notice temporarily cloudy or discoloured water or changes in water pressure while flushing is underway. The municipality says discoloured water is not harmful. Still residents should run their cold water tap until it runs clear and check their water before drinking or using it for cooking, laundry or other household purposes.
