KAWARTHA LAKES: Residents of the City of Kawartha Lakes will have an opportunity to learn more about local wellness programs, community supports, and senior services during the upcoming Victoria Manor Wellness Fair on Wednesday, May 20th.
The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Victoria Manor and is open to seniors, caregivers, families, and community members interested in healthy aging and wellness resources.
Organizers say the fair is designed to help seniors stay active, healthy, informed, and connected by bringing together a wide variety of organizations and service providers under one roof.
Visitors will be able to meet representatives from numerous community groups who will offer information on health care, recreation, caregiving, safety, social programs, and volunteer opportunities. Booths will feature organizations including the Alzheimer Society, Community Care, Kawartha Lakes Fire Service, Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service, Kawartha Lakes Police Service, and the Kawartha Lakes Public Library.
Additional participants include Any-care, Homestead, Kawartha Care, Kawartha Conservation, Kawartha Holistic, Purple House Services, Therapi, Three Sixty Health, and Victoria Manor’s own volunteering, life enrichment, and health and safety teams.
Guided tours of Victoria Manor will also be available throughout the day, allowing visitors to explore the facility and learn more about life at the long-term care home. Staff members will be on hand to answer questions about resident programs, amenities, daily activities, and care services.
The tours may be especially helpful for individuals and families considering long-term care options for themselves or loved ones.
In addition to the information booths and tours, lunch will be available for purchase for $8. The meal includes a loaded baked potato, a cookie and a drink.
Organizers encourage residents to stop by, ask questions, and discover the many services available within the community. Whether visitors are seeking support, information, volunteer opportunities, or simply an enjoyable afternoon out, the event aims to provide something for everyone.
