Uxbridge resident and former hockey player Bryan Marchment passes away

UXBRIDGE: The Uxbridge community and the National Hockey League (NHL) are mourning the loss of former defenceman Bryan Marchment.

The San Jose Sharks announced Mr. Marchment’s passing on Twitter, on Wednesday, July 6th.

“The San Jose Sharks are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of longtime scout and NHL veteran Bryan Marchment. Bryan’s lifelong love of hockey was unparalleled, and he was amongst the most dedicated, physical and fiercest players to ever play the game,” a statement from the team read.

The Uxbridge Bruins also posted on Twitter their sorrow upon learning the news.

“Condolences, from the entire Bruins organization. Bryan and his family made Uxbridge their home for many years and made a tremendous impact on the community.”

Bryan Marchment is the father of current NHL player and Uxbridge native Mason Marchment. He played games for the Winnipeg Jets, Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, Tampa Bay Lightning, San Jose Sharks, Colorado Avalanche, Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs.
