Uxbridge crash leaves woman dead

UXBRIDGE: A 25-year-old Uxbridge woman has died in a motor vehicle collision in Uxbridge on Wednesday, August 7th.

According to police, at approximately 5:36 a.m., members of North Division responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Sandford Road near Uxbridge Concession Road 2.

Witnesses report the involved vehicle which was a white Chevrolet Malibu, was eastbound on Sandford Road prior to the collision. The driver of the Malibu lost control of the vehicle and it left the roadway and rolled-over before coming to rest on the passenger side.

The 25-year-old female driver of the Malibu was found inside the Malibu with serious injuries after the crash. She was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital before air ambulance transferred her to a Toronto-area trauma center. She was originally listed in critical condition, but succumbed to her injuries from the crash over the weekend.

Police state this is the eighth traffic fatality in Durham Region.

Police have decided not to release the name of the victim, referencing the wishes of her family.
