Uxbridge and Scugog Sanction Final Budget for New Animal Shelter

NORTH DURHAM: After a comprehensive procurement process, the townships of Uxbridge and Scugog have announced progress on the construction of a new Animal Shelter, with a total project budget of $3.8 million. The 6,457-square-foot facility will include designated spaces for dogs and cats, outdoor exercise areas, quarantine and isolation rooms, maternity spaces, and other amenities.

A sod-turning event took place this Tuesday afternoon at 5500 Lakeridge Road in Uxbridge to celebrate the milestone. Construction will continue into the winter months, with substantial completion expected by next October. Full occupancy is scheduled for New Year's Eve of next year.

As the project moves forward to provide services for Uxbridge and Scugog, the townships look forward to a continuing partnership.
