SCUGOG: Local residents, looking to explore new destinations, discover local literary talent, or learn something new, will find plenty of opportunities at the Scugog Public Library, during the first half of November.

The library's upcoming schedule features: a travelogue presentation, an author evening, and ongoing opportunities for residents to stay active and connect with their community.

Travel enthusiasts can take a virtual journey to Greece, on Monday, November 9th, with photographer, television host, Standard columnist, and world traveller Jonathan van Bilsen.

His presentation, beginning at 3 p.m., will offer an engaging look at his experiences exploring the Mediterranean country, followed by an opportunity for questions and answers.

The program is free, but advance registration is requested through the library's Information Desk or by calling 905-985-7686, ext. 1010.

The library's Heart of the Story: Authors in Conversation series, continues Tuesday, November 10th, with a visit from author Steve Burrows.

The evening will feature special readings from Mr. Burrows' work, including his novel A Murmuration of Starlings, along with an opportunity for attendees to discover the inspiration behind his writing. Books will also be available for purchase at the event.

The presentation begins at 7 p.m., and is free to attend, with no registration required.

Beyond its special events, the library continues to offer regular programming, for residents of all ages.

Through a partnership with Community Care, free exercise classes, through the Falls Prevention program, are available to adults aged 55 and older, in the library's Rotary Room.

Exercise classes run on Wednesdays and Fridays, from 1 to 2 p.m., with chair exercises offered on Wednesdays, from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. Participants are welcome to attend one or both programs, and first-time visitors can register directly with the instructor at their first class.

The library also continues its early literacy programming and All Ages Family Fun, on Saturdays, providing opportunities for younger residents and their families to enjoy activities together.

Residents are reminded, the Scugog Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, November 11th, for Remembrance Day, and no programs will take place that day.

For additional information about library programming, contact the Scugog Public Library, at 905-985-7686, ext. 1010, or visit www.scugoglibrary.ca.
