My favourite go to snack is apples dipped in peanut butter. I don't mind bruises on my apples, I'll happily gobble them down any time. They may be flawed on the outside but just as sweet on the inside. The so called 'imperfections' on the outside can effect how we see ourselves and effect our physical wellness. Let's look into the mind and body connection.
Emotional Wellness - There are those who find it difficult to make meaningful change because of unresolved emotional issues. While I am not a psychologist, I have experienced this impact on my physical wellness. I sought help from a qualified mental health professional. This went a long way to help manage my situation in a positive way.
Mind & Body Connection - If you are constantly stressed, a majority of that stress is held in the muscles of your cervical spine (between your shoulder blades and neck) which can cause chronic headaches and neck pain. Those muscles help to turn your head so they can become restricted when you are stressed. It also causes inflammation in your body which can present as joint pain and digestive issues, amongst other things.
Nutrition - Sugar, caffeine, and processed foods tend to be the go to when people feel down. It is a nice warm hug wrapped in a sugar filled disguise! Ironically, what is comforting, is making us worse. It exacerbates inflammation in your entire body. In this case, having a bruised apple, instead, would be a better alternative. Write down your diet for a week, monitoring what you eat and when. Note your emotional and physical response after eating.
Make Time for You - Your emotional wellness is just as important as your physical wellness. It is important to take care of yourself by making time to look after YOU. We'll dive in to healthy habits next time! Stay tuned for part 2 later this month.

Health routines fall apart faster from small administrative nonsense than from lack of motivation. One missed payment question, one membership issue, or one account mix-up is enough to make somebody put off the gym for another week and feel irritated the whole time. A neighbor of mine had exactly that kind of situation and finally said he would stop guessing and just call. That was when planet fitness customer service phone number became the useful piece, because support questions around membership and billing are easier to solve directly than by poking around inside an app. Fitness goals sound big. Most setbacks are boring.
