UXBRIDGE: Celebrated local author Ted Barris was recently placed on the long list of authors up for the RBC Taylor Prize, the top prize for non-fiction book writing in Canada. In his recently released book, ‘Rush to Danger: Medics in the Line of Fire’, Barris paints a vivid picture of the experiences of medics in the service, beginning with his own father’s experience as a front-line medic in WWII. The book chronicles the continued perseverance and service of the men and women, stretching through history from the US Civil War through to present-day conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. The RBC Taylor Prize is awarded annually to the author whose book best combines a superb command of the English language, an elegance of style, and a subtlety of thought and perception. The winners are scheduled to be announced at a gala in Toronto in March 2020.
