DURHAM: This week, from Sunday, May 18th to Saturday, May 24th, the Region of Durham Paramedic Services (RDPS) has special plans, in honour of National Paramedic Services week. The RDPS is recognizing the support paramedics have given to the Durham community. This is being celebrated locally and across the nation.
To mark the 25 years of service to the community, paramedics will hold an open house at their headquarters and celebrate the “We Care. For Everyone” theme.
“During Paramedic Services Week, we proudly recognize and celebrate the extraordinary dedication, skill, and compassion of our paramedics. These professionals are often the first on scene, delivering critical care and comfort during some of life’s most difficult moments,” said Troy Cheseboro, Chief, RDPS.
The event is free with touch-a-truck and thank-a-paramedic stations. There will also be a prop-filled photo booth, in addition to information booths and demonstration stations. Parking can be found directly north, at Hebron Christian Reformed Church.
Being a division part of the Durham Region Health Department (DRHD), RDPS is one of Ontario's largest paramedic services. RDPS is the primary certified ambulance service in Durham. There are more than 400 advanced care, primary care, tactical and community paramedics. They respond from 12 paramedic stations in the region.
“[Region of Durham Paramedic Service'] tireless commitment to public safety, health, and service makes a profound difference in communities across Durham and surrounding regions,” Chief Chesebrow added, “We thank our paramedics for their bravery and unwavering service, today and every day.”
The Region of Durham Paramedic Service headquarters are located at 4040 Anderson street, near the Durham District School Board, in Oshawa.
