Plungers sought for annual Port Perry fundraiser

SCUGOG: Organizers of the 13th annual Port Perry Polar Plunge are looking for people to sign up as plungers for the annual event. The 2020 edition of the annual fundraiser will take place in Port Perry’s Palmer Park on Saturday, January 25th. However, people who are plunging are asked to sign up ahead of time. Individual Plungers are required to raise a minimum of $200 in pledges. For teams of four people or more, a minimum $100 pledge per person is required. As every year, the event is being put on by the Auxiliary to Lakeridge Health Port Perry. However, this time they are being assisted by a group labeled the ‘Friends of the Auxiliary’, made up of people from Port Perry’s McMurtry Law firm. All funds raised go to the Auxiliary, benefitting the Port Perry hospital. The day of the plunge, the registration tent opens at 1 p.m., with the plunge itself kicking off at 2 p.m. There will be a hot tub on site for plungers to use after their dip, and awards will be given out following the end of the plunge. “The famous Polar Bears will be there for picture taking and hugs,” read a press release. To sign up, email amy@mcmurtrylaw.ca, or call 905-982-2650.
