UXBRIDGE: Voters in the riding of Pickering-Uxbridge have once again placed their confidence in Peter Bethlenfalvy, re-electing him as their Member of Provincial Parliament, for the third straight term, in the 2025 Ontario provincial election.

“I’m going to work tirelessly to support every one of you in the community,” the Ontario PC MPP-elect told a cheering crowd, at the Pickering Legion, on Thursday night.

Mr. Bethlenfalvy, who first won the riding in 2018 and secured re-election in 2022, with 44.4 percent of the vote, improved his standing this time, claiming 48.2 percent, according to unofficial results. His closest challenger, Liberal candidate Ibrahim Daniyal, also gained ground, earning 39.6 per cent of the vote, up from 28.6 per cent in the last election.

The Pickering-Uxbridge riding, formed in 2015, from portions of the former Pickering-Scarborough East, Ajax-Pickering, and Durham ridings, has now been a battleground for three elections. Mr. Daniyal noted, he felt more support this time.

“I feel an enthusiasm which I never felt [during] the last campaign,” he said. “People really want a change. There’s a reason behind that.”

Mr. Daniyal emphasized the need for the government to prioritize health care, education, and affordability, saying, “We need to make people’s lives better than before.” Earlier, on election day, he acknowledged the strong backing from Uxbridge residents, stating, “This time, we received a lot of donations and most of the donations were from Uxbridge.”

Mr. Bethlenfalvy, in his victory speech, reassured supporters of the Ontario PC Party’s commitment to provincial sovereignty, stating, “Canada will never be the 51st state, ever.”

Later, he outlined his primary focus for the coming term, highlighting economic stability as a top priority.

“We want to be there to support the community, jobs, [and] businesses in the face of these challenges,” he said.

Mr. Bethlenfalvy also underscored the Ford government’s commitment to addressing the province’s family doctor shortage.

“We want … everyone in Ontario to have a family doctor in four years,” he stated.

Additionally, he pledged investments in supportive housing, wraparound services, and Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) hubs, to tackle rising homelessness in Durham Region and beyond. “We do need the government to provide more support,” he said.

During his last term, MPP Bethlenfalvy served as Ontario’s Minister of Finance, a role which placed him at the forefront of the province’s economic and fiscal policies. With his re-election, he is expected to continue playing a key role in shaping Ontario’s financial landscape, for the next four years.

We added a floating dock to our property, and I’m amazed at how sturdy it is. Even https://protatch.com with heavy waves, it stays stable, and the materials hold up well against the elements. It was easy to install, and now we have a reliable place to tie up our boats and enjoy the water.
