MoJacks fall to Merchants over the weekend

DAN CEARNS, The Standard

SCUGOG: The Port Perry MoJacks were defeated by the Little Britain Merchants in their only game action this past weekend. The MoJacks hosted the Merchants at Scugog Arena on Sunday, December 5th.

About nine and a half minutes in, the Merchants got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead. Then, with less than three minutes remaining in the period, the Merchants struck again, putting Port Perry behind 2-0 heading into the first intermission.

Little Britain continued to take control of the game in the second period, scoring just 56 seconds in. But, a little past the halfway mark of the frame, Cody Bricknell scored his fifth goal of the season, cutting the deficit to 3-1. But the Merchants would get two goals late in the period, and Port Perry trailed 5-1.

Despite the MoJacks heavily out-shooting the Merchants 19 to 8 in the third period, there were no goals scored in that frame. Little Britain won the game 5-1.

One Timers The MoJacks will head to Uxbridge, on Friday, December 10th for another edition of the ‘Battle of North Durham.’ Puck drop for that game is 7:45 p.m. The MoJacks’ next home game, at Scugog Arena, is on Sunday, December 12th, at 2:25 p.m. They will face the Lakefield Chiefs.
